14th September 2018: At least three Pakistani security personnel were killed in a VBIED blast on the northern by-pass in the Pishin district of Balochistan, local police said on Friday.

Two others were also injured in the blast which targeted the vehicle of an assistant commissioner. According to police, the remote-controlled bomb was planted on a motorcycle and the assistant commissioner was not present in his vehicle, surviving the bombing.

Jihadi group Hizbul Ahrar has claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement released by Hizbul Ahrar’s official Al-Ahrar Media network, its spokesman Dr Aziz Yousafzai confirmed that the bomb was planted on a motorcycle and that the target was the assistant commissioner.

This is the second attack carried out in Pakistan in two days. Yesterday on 13th September, Hizbul Ahrar claimed a gun attack in North Waziristan which also targeted Pakistani security personnel. In retaliation, Pakistani security forces carried out a search operation in the area and successfully neutralized multiple terrorists, including a commander level militant.

Pakistan local authorities have launched an investigation into the Friday incident.
