On 4th September Afghan Taliban released a statement announcing the death of founder of Haqqani Network Jalaluddin Haqqani. Following Taliban’s announcement, tributes and eulogies started pouring in from various Jihadi groups. Head of South Asia Desk at ITCT Faran Jeffery reported on some of those tributes on his Twitter timeline.

On the evening of the 17th anniversary of 9/11 attacks, Al-Qaeda itself finally released a detailed statement from its General Leadership, eulogizing Jalaluddin Haqqani, who was a close ally of Al-Qaeda.

The statement was released by As-Sahab Media, official propaganda network of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

There is still some confusion about the timing and location of Jalaluddin Haqqani’s death. Following Taliban announcement, some journalists and analysts on Twitter reported that Taliban made a late announcement to serve their strategic goals and Jalaluddin actually died sometime between 2007-2015.

UPDATE:

On 14th September, Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) released its own statement eulogizing Jalaluddin Haqqani.
