North Waziristan: At least four Pakistani soldiers have been killed and multiple others injured during gunfight with terrorists while they were carrying out a search operation near Datta Khel area of North Waziristan. Pakistani security sources also said that at least 8 terrorists were killed in the operation. According to last reports, Pakistani security forces were still carrying out the operation in the area.
It is unclear which Jihadist group the terrorists belonged to but according to a security source, they’re most likely from one of the many factions of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
One of the soldiers slain in the gunfight has been identified as Captain Junaid of Northern Light Infantry.

UPDATE: According to latest reports, the death toll of Pakistani soldiers slain in the North Waziristan CT op has reached 7. At least 9 terrorists have also been killed so far. Pakistani security forces also carried out intelligence-based search operations in Waziristan’s Gharlamai and Spera Kunar Algad areas. Others apart from Captain Junaid who died in the gunfight are named: Hav Amir, Hav Atif, Hav Nasir, Hav Abdul Razzaq, Sep Sammi and Sep Anwar.

On Sunday 23rd September, Hafiz Gul Bahadar group, a faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for killing 7 Pakistani soldiers in North Waziristan, including an officer. The claim makes no mention of the 9 militants that were killed by Pakistani military. However, the statement says the militants who killed Pakistani soldiers were led by Commander Anar Talvar and Commander Toofan.
