Pakistan: One Pakistani soldier died and another was injured in an IED explosion in Mohmand district of KP province in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Both soldiers were part of Pakistan Army’s Bomb Disposal team and were defusing the explosive device when it went off. The slain soldier has been identified by Pakistan Army as Capt Zarghaam Fareed and the wounded soldier as Sepoy Rehan.
In a tweet, Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor confirmed the news.

The IED blast in Mohmand district has been claimed by Hizbul Ahrar terrorist group in a statement. According to Hizbul Ahrar’s claim, there were a total of two IED blasts killing two soldiers and wounding another two. As per the claim, the first blast targeted the team of soldiers working on the border fence and the second blast targeted other soldiers who approached the area after the first blast. Hizbul Ahrar’s claim further said that last night its fighters raided a Pakistan military check-post and seized border fencing equipment. Earlier this week there were reports that Afghan Taliban fighters attacked Pakistani soldiers fencing the border and seized some fencing equipment.
Just yesterday Hizbul Ahrar had claimed an IED explosion in North Waziristan, killing one soldier and wounding another.
In another incident on Wednesday morning in North Waziristan’s Razmak division, at least three Pakistani soldiers were injured in an IED blast. All three soldiers have been shifted to the hospital and are reportedly in stable condition. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the North Waziristan IED blast.

On Thursday Hizbul Ahrar claimed Wednesday’s IED blast in North Waziristan that injured three Pakistani soldiers.
It was confirmed to ITCT Newsdesk by a Pakistani security source that one of the three soldiers died after succumbing to his injuries. Hizbul Ahrar also released photos of the slain soldier.
All three soldiers targeted in North Waziristan blast belong to Pakistan FC forces .
