Afghanistan: A suicide bomber blew himself up in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Monday, killing at least ten people near a police checkpoint, including policemen, Afghan officials said.

At least ten people were killed in the explosion, said Najib Danish, a spokesman for the interior ministry. Ten policemen and civilians, including women, were injured in the blast, which took place close to a police check point in Kabul city center near Serena Hotel.

Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP) group has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a release by Amaq Agency.

According to initial reports, there was a protest taking place near the blast site. Locals had gathered near Afghan Presidential Palace to protest against government’s failure to secure Jaghori and other districts from Taliban.
