Pakistan: An anti-polio vaccination team was attacked in Mamoond area of Bajaur agency in Khayber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Monday. A ‘Subedar’ officer of Levies forces, who was part of the security detail of the team of health workers, was killed in the attack.
Nogroup has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack.
A local official said that some suspects were detained following Monday’s killing of officer Mohammad Sarfraz. The attack took place in the village of Badam in Bajaur region, which borders Afghanistan.
Pakistan is one of few countries where polio is still endemic, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria.
